Dr Stuart Wheater, Managing Director
Stuart, a founding Director of Arjuna Technologies, was appointed Managing Director in 2018. He leads the ongoing development and commercialisation of Arjuna’s advanced data sharing solutions.
Stuart holds a First Class Honours degree in Computer Science from Newcastle University and completed his PhD there in 1990. He was one of the five founders of Arjuna Solutions. When Bluestone acquired ASL, Stuart became a senior engineer in the Bluestone Arjuna Labs. Then, following the HP acquisition of Bluestone, he became a Distinguished Engineer with HP.
John Carney, Chairman
John has served as Chairman of Arjuna Technologies since joining the Board in October 2003. He has deep experience of advising and building technology-based enterprises and of the international capital markets.
Formerly, John was an Investment Adviser to Lazard Development Capital and then a Director of Corporate Finance with Hoare Govett in London. He has held a number of leadership positions in both the public and private sectors. John continues to advise and invest in start-ups and early stage technology-based businesses.
Mark I’Anson, MBE, Non-Executive Director
Mark joined the Board of Arjuna Technologies in October 2003. He has an outstanding record of building and leading technology-based enterprises and has also served with distinction in public positions.
After graduating from Cambridge University, Mark co-founded Integrated Micro Products (IMP) and made the business into a world-leading innovator in fault-tolerant computing. IMP was floated on Nasdaq in 1993 and three years later acquired by Sun Microsystems for $96 million. Mark then became responsible for the Sun Teleco Platforms Group, leading development and execution of Sun’s Telecoms and Internet strategy.
On leaving Sun in 2001, Mark continued to invest in innovative technology-based businesses and was also appointed to public sector leadership roles. In 2013, Mark was awarded the MBE for services to business and the community. Between 2009 and 2017, Mark was successively Vice-Chair and Chair of Council, Newcastle University. Mark also served nationally as Deputy Chair of the Committee of University Chairs. In 2018, he was awarded the degree of Doctor of Civic Law honoris causa by Newcastle University. Mark continues to serve as a member of the University Court and in other public roles, including with Not-for-profit charitable organisations.
Alec Mackie, Non-Executive Director
Alec joined the Board of Arjuna Technologies in September 2009. He is an experienced investor of seed and venture capital and is a qualified chartered accountant.
