Bob is the founder and CEO of Bickel Advisory Services, LLC. Bob is an entrepreneur with passion, ambition, and insight. Prior to founding Bickel Advisory Services, he was VP of Strategy and Corporate Development at JBoss, Inc., helping to guide JBoss to acquisition by Red Hat. Before JBoss, he was the General Manager of the HP Middleware Division (HPMD) overseeing all market opportunities with regard to HP Middleware products. Before joining HP, Bickel was executive technology officer and executive vice president of products for Bluestone Software Inc., acquired by HP in January 2001. Bickel was one of the original creators who brought Bluestone's Application Server technology to the marketplace, and from that, was instrumental in growing the company to one with a global presence and a reputation for product excellence. Before Bluestone, Bickel spent eleven years at Digital Equipment Corporation, where he managed systems integration projects for a number of Digital customers. Bickel holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Bucknell University and a master's degree in business administration with a concentration in finance from Temple University.
Mark Little is CTO of the JBoss Division at Red Hat, where he is also Director of Standards and Development Manager for the Transactions and ESB products. Prior to Red Hat, Mark was Chief Architect at Arjuna Technologies, leading the transactions efforts in Web Services and J2EE. Before that he was a Distinguished Engineer at Hewlett-Packard. He is author/contributor on many Web Services standards and specifications, including WS-Addressing, WS-TX and WS- CAF. Mark has published widely and is a regular contributor on WebServices.org and an editor on Infoq.com. He has co- authored several books and presented at many conferences and workshops over the years. Mark holds a PhD in Computing Science from the University of Newcastle.
Santosh Shrivastava received his Ph.D. from Cambridge in 1975 and was appointed a Professor of Computing Science at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne in 1986. His research interests are in the areas of distributed systems, fault tolerance and the application of transaction and workflow technologies to e-commerce. Santosh created the Distributed Systems Research Group at Newcastle, which now has an international reputation through the practical application of innovative research work. His group is probably best known for developing a CORBA based dependable workflow system for the Internet and, of course, the innovative distributed transaction system - which he named Arjuna. In 1998 he co-founded Arjuna Solutions Ltd to exploit this technology with great success. Santosh remains committed to the pursuit of 'cutting edge' research and is a central figure within the international arena, leading and managing collaborative research projects.
